For example:
If I want to sew silk and cotton together, I’ll apply the stabilizer to the wrong side of the silk so that, during sewing, the two fabrics have the same weight and can be stitched together without any problems.
In patchwork it can be used for mock hand appliqué or to create raised appliqués.
