It is also possible to deactivate the upper knife, thus avoiding cutting the fabric: this function is usually used when it is only necessary to seal the edge of a garment, to prevent the fabric from fraying.

The possibility of making the 14HD854 free-arm sewing machine facilitates the execution of sewing on tubular fabrics, while the assisted threading via colored lanes simplifies the change of threads even more.

The Singer 14HD854 overlock machine can perform different types of seams:

  • 3-thread overlock, i.e. the classic overlocking useful for all types of fabric;
  • the 3-thread overlock for sewing, cutting and overcasting in a single operation using a needle;
  • the extra elastic 4-thread safety stitch,
  • the typical seam performed by overlockers with 2 needles;
  • the 3-thread flat hem perfect for joining and decorating edges and cuffs;
  • the 3-thread rolled hem especially suitable for edging extremely thin fabrics such as organza, tulle, veil, cambric, crepe; the invisible hem indicated mainly for the bottoms of elegant trousers and skirts.
